In October 2011 I said goodbye to London, and booked flights to the US – not quite on a whim – I had always intended to move to Silicon Valley with my startup, but the timing and decision to do this was certainly spontaneous.

But I although I told people I was moving to the US – I couldn’t really – I didn’t have a visa, so I went initially for a two month trip with the intention to see how things went during that time. Limited by the 3 month visa-free entry allowed with an ESTA, I did another two extended trips before – hurray! – finally receiving a three year work visa.
