Growing up, my father constantly pushed me to learn new things. Many times that meant taking classes, or going to events, that were dominated by men. Figuring out a way to integrate myself into those events or classes was always challenging. There definitely was a feeling at times that I didn’t belong, but my father also taught me something else: to be proud of my height. At 5’10”, while most girls I knew were trying to minimize their height, I accentuated it. Along the way he taught me to have presence, which gave me more confidence.
Little did I know then that my father was right on topic. According to Amy Cuddy, your body language can change your confidence level and your interaction with others. Although I don’t think this is an issue just for women ,I do agree that women have been taught to exhibit the “small” body positioning more frequently than men.
